PICHANGA

Written and Directed by MANUEL ORTIZ

Latin America, Europe, USA, 2015-2019

“Pichanga” is the name given to the eternal soccer games played by children in the neighborhoods in Chile. We all played a pichanga at some point, we all dreamed of being Alexis Sanchez, Messi or Maradona in other times. Pichanga is also the name of this Documentary Theater play that delves into the universe of Soccer, through the biographical story of the life of Cristian, a young man born in 90, the same year that democracy arrived in Chile. Thus the story crosses Cristian's 25 years with the 25 years of democracy in the country and the dream of a young man who like many - or almost all - wanted to be a soccer star when he was a child. The show was presented in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the USA.
